Little black dress

As some of you know, I lost 60 lbs in 2009. Since then my wardrobe has been..lacking. A lot. I'm not normally one to have a lot of clothes anyhow, but I literally had nothing to wear this summer aside from a pair of shorts from last summer and 3 t-shirts that I bought a couple of weeks ago. I made a couple of little beach dresses to get myself through the heat wave, I'll blog those later but this week I made something more practical. A little black dress, suitable for just about any occasion. My husband and I are celebrating 10 years of marriage next week and I wanted to have something nicer to wear than my jeans or those shorts from last summer. Enter Lisette patterns to the rescue. This is 2246, the Traveller dress. View A but with view C short sleeves. It's pretty much the perfect dress. It's hard to see the pocket details because of the print but I'm positive I will make at least 1 more of these for my empty closet.I bought this fabric from the clearance section as a muslin but I really love it. It's a high quality cotton so it launders beautifully. This was my first time making this pattern, but I've discovered I'm a perfect 10 in Lisette fitting. (Sewing pattern sizes are not the same as retail size, I'm a 4 in that sense.) The red tie belt is some scrap I had leftover from Hazel's Little Red Riding hood cape so it's twill.

Thanks for looking!
